Fathom is a not-for-profit press—not non-profit, which entails a dozen governances—and accepts donations strictly for the maintenance and growth of the high imaginative and literary ideals of our imprints. We are completely ad-free and will never be associated with commercial or university presses: we believe such associations erode the iconoclastic and creative spirit undergirding all authentic art. A quick look at recent volumes published by certain ‘major’ houses reveals the precarious state of contemporary letters, whence the sales opportunity for publishing celebrity or ‘official’ authors trumps published content. We will continue to represent a staunch bulwark against trends like these, and a visionary publishing alternative.

Check our progress here. Even with thousands and thousands of dollars at their disposal, there are very few presses that can match the strange beauty and content of our small (and growing) library.

Outside of potential donations and book sales, all funding for SPR, SHARKPACK Annual, and Fathom is out-of-pocket. We would deeply appreciate your help.

What might a particular donation do for our imprints? Here are some quick examples:

$25.—

A $25 donation would pay our SHARKPACK Annual or fathombooks.org host for one year, and nearly pay WordPress to host SHARKPACK Poetry Review. Donate here.

$100.—

A $100 donation would pay nearly all hosting fees for our imprints for one year, or pay stipends to four Annual contributors. Anyone donating between $100-$499 receives a complete subscription to Fathom for one year + listing on our website as a Friend of Fathom. Donate here.

$500.—

A donation like this gets Fathom about halfway to the publishing of our next limited-edition shortbook; could finance a long- or shortbook prize; commission a fine short-run broadside; or fund two cash stipends for Fathom authors. Anyone donating between $100-$499 receives a complete subscription to Fathom for two years + listing on our website as a Benefactor. Donate here.

$1,000.—

Wow. This wholly finances an upcoming shortbook, including most of the author stipend. It could endow SHARKPACK Annual’s Prospero Prize for up to six years. Anyone donating  $1,000 or more receives a complete subscription to Fathom for four years + listing on our website as a True Moby. Donate here.

Beginning in 2019, True Mobies will also be listed in every longbook Fathom publishes.
